Vehicle Duplicate RC Check – Obtain a Duplicate Vehicle RC in India

Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) is document that proves a vehicle is legally registered with Regional Transport Office (RTO) in India. It contains details such as vehicle registration number, chassis number, engine number, and owner’s information.

Follow these steps to obtain a duplicate Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) online in India:

  • Visit Parivahan Sewa Portal https://parivahan.gov.in.
  • Select “Vehicle Related Services” from menu bar and select your state.
  • Enter your vehicle registration number or select your RTO click “Proceed”

  • In this website menu bar click on “Services” and select “RC Related Services” and then “Apply for Transfer of Ownership, Change of Address, Hypothecation [Addition/Continuation/Termination], Duplicate RC].

  • Enter your Vehicle Registration number and Chassis Number click on “Verify Details”.

  • Verify your OTP receive on your registered mobile number and submit it.
  • In next step, select “Duplicate RC”.
Duplicate-RC
  • Fill all details and enter the reason for applying and Insurance Details.
  • Pay fees and make the online payment and download the receipt.
  • In 15 days, you can receive a duplicate RC on your registered address.
Notes:
  • These documents are required(FIR, affidavit proof, insurance,PUC) to apply for “Duplicate RC”.
  • Fees integrate by vehicle type(e.g., ₹300-700 for cars/motorcycles, per Rule 81 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989).
  • It may take 15-30 days depend on RTO, download soft RC via DigiLocker.

During application process these document are important:

  • Form 26: When you apply for duplicate RC this form is important get it on Parivahan Sewa website or at the RTO.
  • FIR Copy: If your RC is lost go to local police station and file a First Information Report (FIR) and get a copy.
  • Affidavit: Get a Affidavit statment that your RC is lost and attested by a notary public or magistrate.
  • Identity Proof: Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, or Passport.
  • Address Proof: Aadhaar Card, utility bill, or rental agreement.
  • Valid Insurance Certificate: Add a copy of Vehicle insurance policy.
  • (PUC) certificate: Proof of compliance with emission standards.
  • Challan Clearance: Clearance certificate from the traffic police.
  • Tax Clearance: A proof of tax payment from the accounts Department.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC): NOC certificate is important it indicate that your vehicle is not under loan.
  • PAN Card or Form 60/61: As applicable, for tax purposes.
  • Engine and Chassis Pencil Print: If required by RTO take physical print of engine and chassis numbers.

  • Visit https://parivahan.gov.in Portal.
  • Click on “Online Services” > “Vehicle Related Services.”
  • Select State and click on proceed.
  • Click on Status in menu bar and then “Know Your Application Status”.
Know-Application-Status
  • Enter the requried information and fill captcha.
  • Click the submit button and check status.
Check-Duplicate-RC-Status
  • Lost or Misplaced RC: The original RC is lost or stolen.
  • Damaged RC: The RC is torn, faded, or otherwise illegible.
  • Destroyed RC: RC is damaged due to fire, water, or other causes.
  • Incorrect Details: The RC contains errors in ownership or vehicle details (e.g., chassis number or manufacturing year).
